Tourism Ambassador Program
The City of Lufkin is trying to reach a new level of hospitality. The Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau is introducing the new Tourism Ambassador Program. The Lufkin Ambassadors have been in operation for several years working with the Chamber of Commerce and Lufkin CVB. The new program will strive to venture out into the community in other areas that need assistance with welcoming visitors and offering information about the City of Lufkin.
The Tourism Ambassadors will be available to greet visitors to improve the visitor’s experience, potentially leading to more frequent visits. Everyone will benefit from the Tourism Ambassadors; the visitors, the hospitality industry, and most importantly the local economy by making customers want to stay longer. When hospitality workers provide quality service and welcome visitors those visitors are more likely to have a fun, enjoyable time. This will lead to them telling their friends / coworkers and this will lead to a return visit to our beautiful city.
After a long trip the LCVB recognizes that visitors to our area would have a better travel experience when greeted by friendly, people with knowledge of our town. A smile says a lot to someone weary from travel and what better way to be welcomed than to have a Tourism Ambassador greet them and supply them with knowledge of our town.
Not only are the Tourism Ambassadors readily available to welcome visitors they can assist in registrations for meetings/conventions/ workshops, they participate with the making of welcome packets and mail outs of the Lufkin Visitors Guides. As our town is growing so is the need for Tourism Ambassadors. This program is flexible and does not require a set amount of hours needed, it is strictly a volunteer basis. If you have time to give to the community or know of someone who would like to become part of this new Hospitality Program please contact Loretta Christmas @ (936) 633-0359 or lchristmas@cityoflufkin.com.
