Photo Eligibility
To enter, you must be at least 18 years of age. All photos must be in color and taken in Lufkin or Angelina County within the last year. The photo subject must be relevant to Tourism in Lufkin in one of the following contest categories:

Lufkin/Angelina County Annual Events
Lufkin/Angelina County Attractions (Historical & Cultural)
Lufkin/Angelina County Wildlife
Lufkin/Angelina County Recreation & Sporting Events
Lufkin/Angelina County Agriculture & Rural Life

Photographer/Copyright
Entries must be submitted by the original photographer. Do not submit a photo taken by someone other than yourself. You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any image submitted. Your submission of the photo and entry form is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo.

Number of Entries An individual may submit a total of three photographs, one per category.

Photo Subject Restrictions
Photos must be appropriate for posting on a public website. Obscene, provocative or otherwise questionable content will not be considered. All photos will be approved by the Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau before they are uploaded to the photo gallery for viewing and voting. The Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau retains sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content.

Ownership/Use Rights
Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs. By entering the contest, photographers agree to have their submitted photograph displayed on the Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau website without any fee or other form of compensation, and agree that the Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau may display winning photos in a "past winners" photo gallery and may make and retain copies of the photograph for archival purposes. Posted photos will be subject to the VisitLUFKIN website photo use policy. Photos will be credited to the photographer named in the entry form. Entries will never be used by the Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau in any manner for advertising or sale. In the event that ownership of any photograph submitted to the Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau is contested in any manner, the Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau retains the discretion to disqualify that photograph and discontinue use of the photograph.

How to Enter
Digital photos may be submitted using the online entry form. Prints may be mailed along with completed entry forms the Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau (see further instructions below). Each entry must be accompanied by a completed contest entry form. If you are submitting multiple entries, be sure to indicate clearly which form belongs with each photo. Entries must be received by Monday, April 30, 2008, by midnight, Central Time.

Judging
Voting will begin August 1, 2008. Each contestant’s photo will be made visible once approved by the Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau in the Contest Photo Gallery. Visitors to the Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau website will be allowed to view the contest gallery and vote on three photographs in each category they feel best represent tourism in Lufkin/Angelina County. Voting will close on Wednesday, August 30, 2008 at midnight. Entries that fail to comply with the Official Contest Rules will be disqualified.

Winners
Winners will be notified approximately 2-3 weeks after the contest deadline by phone and email using the information on the entry form. Winning photographs, along with the photographer's name, email address (optional) and information about the photo, will be displayed on the VisitLUFKIN website during the months of June, July, August, September, October, November & December 2008. No financial compensation is provided to winners.

Photo Use Policy

Photos displayed on the VISITLUFKIN website are copyrighted by the photographer.

Permission to use the photographs is granted for the following limited uses:

Photos may be printed from a web browser for personal, non-commercial uses.
Photos may be downloaded/copied electronically from a web browser for personal, non-commercial uses, with the following limitations:
- Photos may not be altered in any way, including resizing or cropping.
- Photo credits must be provided.
- Credit should be given as follows: "Photograph by [photographer's name]. Used by permission from www.visitlufkin.com."

Photos may not be sold or used in any way for profit or commercial purposes, including use in commercial or professional websites or printed materials.

Requests for alternate formats or additional uses/rights should be sent to the Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau to notify the photographer. The Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau reserves the right to deny such requests at its discretion.

Submitting Digital Images

Digital images should be submitted using the online entry form. Images should be formatted to 72 dpi, no larger than 600 by 450 pixels and no smaller than 450 by 338 pixels. Panoramic photos are eligible. Images should be submitted in JPG (at high quality) format. File sizes must be less than 500K per image. Images must be in natural color. Black and white, sepia tone, and duotone images are not eligible. Digital images will not be returned.

Image Modifications:
Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified.

Not Permitted:

No borders or frames may be added to images.
No watermarks, signatures, or copyright notices may be added to images. All winning images will be displayed with the photographer's name.
Adding or replacing elements in an image is not permitted.
Artistic filters are not permitted.

Permitted Modifications:

Images may be cropped and rotated as necessary as long as the rectangular format is maintained and the size is within the specifications above.
Images may be resized as long as the aspect ratio is maintained
Red-eye removal and spot editing
One-step enhancement (such as "AutoFix", "QuickFix", "Auto Levels", etc.)
Use of filters to sharpen, soften, blur, despeckle, or remove noise.
Use of corrective functions to improve the natural appearance of the image, such as levels, contrast, brightness, curves, intensity, tone, hue, saturation, lightness, value, color balance, and tint.

Submitting Prints

Prints must be 4 x 6 inches or 5 x 7 inches and must be in color. Do not send negatives. Attach a label to the back of each print with your name and address. Do not write on the photo itself. If submitting multiple entries, number each print to match a corresponding entry form. Prints will not be returned.
