Packet Pick Up

All participants will need to pick up their registration packet Friday, June 6 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Lufkin Chamber of Commerce office at Loop 287 and South Chestnut. Packets will also be available Saturday, June 7 beginning at 7:30 a.m. at North Boggy Slough.

Check In

All participants will need to check in once they arrive at North Boggy Slough to receive a “Paddle Pass,” which is used to identify each canoe/kayak and its participants during the event. A meal ticket will be given to each participant once they finish paddling the Neches River and return their pass to the registration table.

Directions

From Lufkin, take 103 West headed towards Crockett. It merges with HWY 7. Approximately 1 mile past the merge, you will see North Boggy Slough on the left side of the highway.

Parking

FREE shuttle service is provided to put-in site and from take-out site.

Take out Site

Located at HWY 7 bridge. There will also be a free shuttle service back to the parking area for participants.

Free Hamburger Lunch

A wonderful meal is provided at the conclusion of the canoe trip. Each participant will be given a meal ticket after returning from the Neches River, and when the “Paddle Pass” is turned in. A meal ticket entitles him/her to one meal. Additional meal tickets can be purchased in advance.

Registration

Neches River Rendezvous is limited to 300 participants. The Lufkin Convention & Visitors Bureau recommends that entry forms and payment is sent to the Bureau as early as possible.

Entry Forms must be postmarked by May 16, 2008 for EARLY registration.

$30 Per Canoe*
This registration fee covers up to three people per canoe, two t-shirts, and two meal tickets.
(After May 16 deadline, cost is $35 and subject to availability).

$20 Per Kayak*
This registration fee covers one passenger per kayak, one t-shirt, and one meal ticket.
(After May 16 deadline, cost is $25 and subject to availability).

Caution

This event is moderately strenuous. Participation in the 10-mile canoe trip may consist of, but not be limited to: climbing up and down steep slopes, potential portage around obstructions in the river, and paddling. Temperatures are generally very warm in East Texas this time of year with highs reaching the 90ºF+ mark. Please evaluate your physical condition prior to this activity and use common sense and caution while participating in this event.

Safety Regulations

We require all participants to wear a life jacket/vest throughout the entire trip, as well as obey all laws and regulations by local, Texas, and US Government. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Absolutely no alcohol is allowed!
