Spring has sprung in Lufkin, making for the perfect time of the year to get out and enjoy the outdoors as well as fun local events.
Saturday, we kick off a new monthly tradition in downtown Lufkin with Main Street Market Days. This monthly event will take place on the second Saturday of every month. First Street will be blocked off to through traffic, and the streets will be transformed into a market place with vendors lining both sides of the streets.
This month, the event is paired with the annual Vintage Flea Market, so there will be so much to see and do. Bring the whole family and mark your calendars for the second Saturday of each month and enjoy a great day of shopping and exploring in downtown Lufkin. Saturday evening at The Pines Theater, join The Lords of Denman for an extraordinary night of jazz. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased atthepineslufkin.com, or at the door. Tickets range from $30-$40 each. This will be a fabulous show that you do not want to miss.
April 20, country legend Gary Morris is coming to The Pines Theater. Morris’ voice is the only instrument needed to move your heart and soul, and his vocal mastery can hold audiences mesmerized. Morris has recorded 12 albums producing 16 Top 10 and five No. 1 hit singles, including “Why Lady Why,” “The Love She Found in Me,” “Baby Bye Bye,” “100% Chance of Rain,” “Leave Me Lonely” and “Wind Beneath My Wings.”

On April 22, get ready for SpringFest, formerly known as Downtown Hoedown. Arts, crafts and food vendors will line the streets with a variety of children’s activities and all-day entertainment, including a zip-line, live entertainment, a car and truck show, train rides, a petting zoo and a fashion show. Admission to SpringFest is free, so bring the whole family for a fun-filled day in downtown Lufkin.
May 13 is the inaugural Jam and Toast event. This brunch will take place over Mother’s Day weekend. The “Jam” is the music and the “Toast” is the champagne and wine. Jam and Toast will be set up in a similar fashion to Lufkin’s Farm Fest with seating for 150 people at one long table all the way down First Street with most dishes being served family style.
Our incredible local chefs, Kate Rudasill, catering director for Brookshire Brothers, and Britany Vinson, owner and master chef of Tome Catering, will cater brunch. Ticketed guests will arrive at 9:30 a.m. will be able to enjoy Bellinis in the open Alamo area next to The Pines, and then will enjoy a sit-down meal starting around 10 a.m. The menu will consist of Greek yogurt with fresh fruit, granola and honey, paired with Mimosas featuring Valdo Prosecco, cranberry almond scones and cinnamon roll scones with fresh cream, fruit skewers with honey lime dressing, and fried chicken and waffles, bourbon syrup and candied bacon, served with Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio.
