Lufkin Daily News
With the April showers hopefully behind us, we are ready for May flowers and sunshine. Summer fun is finally beginning here in Lufkin and there is so much going on that everyone will be able to get involved in something.
May starts off with a bang at the 32nd annual George H. Henderson Jr. Expo Party on May 13. Come out to the Expo for a delicious steak or chicken dinner, join in on the raffle and live auction, and have a great time. All proceeds from the event go directly to the Exposition Center to help offset costs. It’s a great cause and a great party you won’t want to miss. For more information, call the George H. Henderson, Jr. Expo Center directly at 637-3976.
To keep the ball rolling, May 16 has a variety of events going on to keep you busy. If you love to hunt, then the Texas Big Game Awards is where you will want to be. Their annual awards banquet is May 16 at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center. They have chosen Lufkin as their host this year and we are thrilled to have them in town. If you are interested in attending the awards banquet and seeing the prize winning mounts, visit the website at texasbiggameawards.org/ and register online.
If you love running, then why not do it for a good cause at the Texas Chargers 5k Fun Run on Azalea Trail at Grace Dunne Richardson Park on May 16th. This event is a fundraiser for an organization dedicated to CHARGE Syndrome through encouraging, enriching and educating. If you are interested in participating in the 5K, contact Charlotte Diffey at 676-0665. Advanced registration is $20 and day-of registration is $25. Come out and support a great cause.

On May 17, take the kids and the whole family to Temple Theater on Angelina College Campus for DinoLight presented by the Angelina Arts Alliance.
