The Museum of East Texas is delighted to invite you to Family Day on Sunday, December 13th from 2-4 p.m. This free event is open to the community and filled with activities to get you in the Christmas spirit. Santa Claus will be nestled among the Festival of Trees eager to hear the Christmas wishes of all. Be sure to bring a camera! In conjunction with the exhibition Dirty Bugs: What’s That Lurking Out There!, Charles Jones and Dr. David Kulhavy (a.k.a. “Dr. Bug”) will present music and dancing that is certain to be fun for all ages. Arts and crafts including Christmas cards, gift tags, and tree ornaments can be created in the Education Room. A book signing with authors Linda Arriola Austin and Jo Ann Anderson, authors of Blazing the Arriola Trails, Monterrey to Texas, and Stories of Early Spanish Families 1758-1900 will also be offered. Holiday refreshments will be provided for our guests. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. This event is made possible by the I.D. and Marguerite Fairchild Foundation, Ernest L. Kurth, Jr. Charitable Foundation, the Simon and Louise Henderson Foundation, Lufkin ISD, the Museum Guild, and Museum Volunteers.
As a reminder, the Festival of Trees hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1 to 5 p.m. on weekends. December 19-23, the Museum will have extended hours. On Saturday, December 19, we will be open 10 a.m. to 8 pm. and on Sunday, December 20, we will be open from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 21 through Wednesday, December 23, we will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For further information, please visit our website at metlufkin.org or our Facebook page, Museum of East Texas. The Museum of East Texas is a non-profit organization whose primary mission is education through exhibitions of art and history. The Museum is located at 503 N. Second Street in Lufkin, Texas (across from the Convention Center, near downtown).
