East Texas' culinary event, Lufkin's Farm Feast, is back for a second fantastic fall version and will give foodies across the region the opportunity to enjoy a locally sourced dinner celebrating East Texas farmers. The second annual Fall Farm Feast begins with a wine-and-cheese hour featuring live music at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 26th, at Angelina County Farmers Market, 2107 S Medford Dr. A sit-down, four-course meal with wine pairings will follow at 7. Local chefs will use fresh, flavorful ingredients from farms within a 100-mile radius of Lufkin, and Brookshire Brothers will provide specialty cheeses, wines and beers. Organizers describe the event as "snappy casual," blending an elegant dinner with a fun, laid-back atmosphere. "Our fall farm-to-table dinner will once again feature local chefs collaborating with local farmers to create a menu straight from the land," said Tara Watson-Watkins, executive director of the Lufkin Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Just like our previous summer and fall Farm Feasts, our featured farmers will have booths, and there will be a set of recipe cards with each place setting. Guests will receive recipes directly from the chefs who prepared the food, and they can buy fresh ingredients directly from the farmers who grew it." Partners in Lufkin's Fall Farm Feast include the Angelina County Farmers Market, Kennerly Farms, Brookshire Brothers, Tomé Catering and Tasty Baking by Tori Guy. "Lufkin's Farm Feast is about sharing a meal and some special time with family and friends while celebrating the abundant bounty of our East Texas farmers," said Watson-Watkins. "These sorts of farm-to-table events are the new big thing, and they're growing more and more popular. With our previous events going off so well, even on the hottest day of the year, we feel like this is the perfect way to bring in farm fresh flavors. It's exciting to be a part of bringing the hottest thing in fine dining to Lufkin." Lufkin's Farm Feast is intended for adults. Due to the length of the event and out of respect for other guests, organizers request that guests do not bring children. The event is best suited for flexible eaters, and organizers may not be able to accommodate strict dietary restrictions, such as restricted diets or severe food allergies. If you have specific questions about dietary restrictions, please email Tara @ Visit Lufkin.com.
