October is a busy month for Lufkin, and we want to keep you up to date on all the happenings. Be sure to mark your calendar for these great upcoming events.
Every Friday in the month of October, join us in downtown Lufkin at Cotton Square Park for Entertainment in the Park from noon to 1 p.m. Admission is free and lunch is available for purchase. The entertainment schedule includes The Crime Stoppers Band today, Cindy Grayson on Oct. 13, GMC Trio on Oct. 20 and Glenn Lenderman on Oct. 27. We hope to see you there.
This Saturday is the seventh annual Lufkin’s Bistro. Tickets have been sold out to this event for more than two weeks, but we want to give a shout-out to our fabulous food sponsors, Brookshire Brothers Catering, Tomé Catering, Cotton Patch, Chili’s, Crown Colony Country Club, Tsubaki, Guacamole’s, Posados, Manhattan’s, Grandough, Blue Cow BBQ, Marco’s Pizza and Lufkin Coca-Cola. It wouldn’t be a Lufkin’s Bistro without the generous food donations from our local restaurants and caterers. Thank you for your continued support.
On Oct. 14, downtown Lufkin will be transformed into a market place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with our monthly Main Street Market Days. This month we are partnering with Lufkin’s semi-annual Antiques Weekend as well as the Lufkin Art Guild’s Fall Show and Sale. Make your way to downtown for all the fun, shopping and more. If you are interested in participating in Main Street Market Days as a vendor, please call 633-0359.
If you are looking for entertainment indoors, look no further than The Pines Theater and Angelina Arts Alliance. Angelina Arts Alliance presents “Home Free” on Oct. 15 at the Temple Theater. This five-man band has become known for their show-stopping performances that mix their signature no-instrument, all-vocal music with their quick-witted humor. Home Free has become a household name for peppering Nashville country standards with country-dipped pop hits. Then, on Oct. 19, The Pines presents The Company Men. Unlike any other four-man vocal group touring today, The Company Men will uniquely interweave today’s Top 40 hits with re-imagined classics of the last six decades by blending songs by your favorite artists, including Sam Smith, The Four Tops, Michael Jackson, Katy Perry, Adele, The Temptations, Billy Joel, Michael Buble and more. For ticket information, go online to angelinaarts.org or thepineslufkin.com.
Oct. 21, the annual Heritage Festival is taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center. This family affair offers entertainment for everyone. From multi-cultural dances and performances to kids’ activities and food, you won’t want to miss out on this event. Admission is free to the Heritage Festival, so bring your whole family for a day of fun. For questions please call Main Street Lufkin at 633-0205.
To wrap up the month, Main Street Lufkin will once again be hosting their annual Main Street Trick-or-Treat from 3-5 p.m. Oct. 31 in downtown Lufkin. Bring the kids and walk the streets of downtown in a family-friendly, trick-or-treating experience.
