Everyone knows that February brings Valentine’s Day, so if you are looking for a nice place to take your sweetheart, check out The Pines Theater. On Feb. 14, The Pines will be showing the classic love story of Jack and Rose from the famous movie “Titanic.” The show starts at 7 p.m. and popcorn and refreshments are available. Enjoy a romantic stroll through downtown Lufkin under the lights before the movie or grab a bite to eat at one of our local restaurants. Either way, the night is sure to be an unforgettable one. Next on the calendar of events for this month is a unique show you will not want to miss. On Feb. 19, The Pines Presents “Spencers: Theatre of Illusion.” Join us for a night of fun and enchantment. The audience will be wowed as the incredible husband-and-wife team of illusionists mesmerizes you with magic and mystery. Bring the whole family for a great time at The Pines. Feb. 21 is Lufkin’s CBR Bull Bash at the George H. Henderson Expo Center. Saddle up for one of this year’s biggest annual events. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for a showdown with 2014 Bull Bash champion and world champion bull rider Cody Teel. CBR ambassador and four-time world champion Tuff Hedemen will be there too. And once you think it can’t get any more exciting, country singer Josh Ward will be performing in concert after the bull riding champion has been named. Have you ever dreamed of walking the red carpet? Who are your picks for the 87th Academy Awards? Feb. 22 is your chance to make your dreams come true. For the first time ever the Lufkin Convention and Visitors Bureau presents “Oscars Night at The Pines” from 6-10 p.m. Walk the red carpet in your most glamorous attire, make your grand entrance and pose for pictures by the paparazzi, enjoy champagne and hors d’oeuvres while watching the Oscars live from the big screen. This is your night to be the star attraction. Tickets are $20 each and will cover the cost of the champagne and hors d’oeuvres. A cash bar will also be available. And last but not least, Feb. 24-28 brings the 66th annual Angelina County Fair at the George H. Henderson Expo Center. This is fun for the whole family. Students of all ages will compete in different categories such as the rabbit show, goat show, lamb show, horse show, heifer show and hog show. Along with that, don’t miss out on all the food. Cookie judging, pie judging, bread judging, as well as arts and crafts shows will take place. Even if you aren’t competing, there are all kinds of things for you to participate in such as the “Stick Horse Rodeo,” the barbecue cook-off, or maybe for the little guys, “The Pee Wee Show.” Don’t miss out on all of the activities and fun.
